Come watch amateur designers of all ages participate in an annual Egg Drop Contest on Saturday, April 7 from 10:30am to 2pm. Sponsored by the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics AIAA Hampton Roads Section, this action-packed, “egg-citing” competition challenges students to design specially engineered egg containers, then test them out.
Designers build a device to protect an egg when dropped from Nauticus’ second floor balcony (approximately 20 feet high) and third floor (approximately 40 feet high) in order to keep it from going splat! The lightest device that comes closest to the target while protecting the egg wins.
Watching the event is included in regular Nauticus admission
